All My Sons to Open Eternity Playhouse

Darlinghurst Theatre Company Director Glenn Terry today (June 25, 2013) announced that the inaugural production in the company’s new home, the Eternity Playhouse, will be Arthur Miller’s All My Sons.

“We’re thrilled that our inaugural production at the Eternity Playhouse will be one of the most celebrated plays of the twentieth century, All My Sons,” said Terry. “We believe a theatre ought to be a vibrant, inspiring and welcoming place, and our new home, the Eternity Playhouse, will be just that.”

LEGALLY BLONDE FINISHES AUSTRALIAN TOUR ON JULY 14

After 272 performances and nearly 10 months, Legally Blonde ends its Australian tour on Sunday July 14, 2013. Legally Blonde began at the Sydney Lyric on September 21 last year, followed by seasons at the Lyric Theatre, Brisbane from March 12, 2013 and at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from May 9.

Crowds of up to 200 fans flock to the stage door after every show to meet their favourite performers, and Sydney critics voted Lucy Durack as Best Actress in a Musical at the 2012 Sydney Theatre Awards.

Kneehigh Announce Brief Encounter Tour Cast

UK based theatre company Kneehigh has announced the eight cast members who will perform in the Australian tour of its Broadway/West End hit production of Noël Coward’s Brief Encounter from September 10, 2013.

Two Australian actors, Michelle Nightingale as Laura and Kate Cheel asBeryl, will  join UK and US actors Annette McLaughlin, Damon Daunno andJoseph Alessi from the 2010 Broadway production of Brief Encounter along with Jim Sturgeon, Dave Brown and James Gow.

Contagion’s Kiss: Lepers' Story Inspires Play

Northern Territory physical theatre company Business Unusual draws on stories from Darwin’s history to create its theatre. Its latest work Contagion’s Kiss is inspired by stories from Darwin’s Channel Island Leprosarium. Nicola Fearn, the co-founder of the company, is also the co-director and co-writer of the work. She spoke to Neil Litchfield from Bordertown, on her road-trip from Melbourne to Darwin, in a fully laden car, complete with dog and a pair of crutches strapped to the roof-rack.
