Griffin Theatre Company Announces Season 2012

Play Explores Child Refugee Experience

On Thursday 8th and Friday 9th of September (2011), 18 teenagers from South Western Sydney will come together to share their experiences as refugee children. Tree of Life by Treehouse Theatre is a montage of true stories, and a sharing of the joys, sorrows, terrors, relief, and humour of the refugee experience.

The Tree of Life explores the human experience of refugee children, as trauma survivors, asylum seekers, resettled refugees and Australians.

Strange Bedfellows Musicals Postponed Until 2012

Instinct Entertainment in association with McLaren House officially announced today that the new, all Australian musical, Strange Bedfellows, scheduled to open at The Princess Theatre, Melbourne in October this year will now open early next year. 

David Redman from Instinct Entertainment has also confirmed that Strange Bedfellows has been postponed.

Threepenny Opera Crims Move from Melbourne to Sydney.

When the Malthouse Theatre and Victorian State Opera staged The Threepenny Opera, the Director Michael Kantor was able to update the setting by dipping into Melbourne’s rich tapestry of crookedness. He’s found just as much seediness in Sydney to update the classic by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill once more. David Spicer reports.

Grease 2: Live in Concert Returns

Mátalor: A Hard Rock Dance Opera

Mátalora conceptual hard rock dance opera based on an avant-garde imagining of Romeo and Juliet, will have its World Premiere at Melbourne’s Chapel off Chapel in October. Mátalor promises to shock, entertain and inspire.

Choreographed by Stephan Agisilaou (Creative Director of Vertical Shadows, Choreographer on 'So You Think You Can Dance') and Adam Blakey (Multi Australian Dancesport Championships Winner).

Mátalor combines contemporary, jazz, Latin and ballroom dance.
