Tony Winner Alan Cumming to Direct Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2021

Adelaide Festival Centre has announced acclaimed cabaret and all-round performer, writer and social activist Alan Cumming as the Artistic Director for Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2021. 

Alan Cumming will be the first-ever international Artistic Director in the festival’s history when Adelaide Cabaret Festival celebrates its 21st anniversary next year.  

His appointment was announced on the final night of Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2020: Bite-Sized & Home Delivered, the online offering in place of the 2020 festival.

Venue Restrictions Eased

The ghost lights might be switched off sooner than expected in Australia's theatres, with news that the limit of 100 people on indoor gatherings will be scrapped.

Under changes announced today (June 12) by the Prime Minister, venues will still be required "sometime during July" to allow for four square metres of space per person, under revised guidelines for the Coronavirus pandemic.

Outdoor venues - such as a football ground - will be allowed to host up to 10,000 people in a 40,000 seat venue.

Online Musical: Who’s Your Bagdaddy

LATEST: From Monday 29 June Who’s Your Bagdaddy (Or How I Started The Iraq War), which was performed online from 24 - 28 June for five performances, will be available to view until Sunday 12 July through www.baghdaddymusical.com.au. Tickets will be on the same sliding scale as the live performances, starting from $22, with any added donations split between the Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW and the cast and crew.

Darlo Red Carpet Cabaret Line-up

Darlinghurst Theatre Company has revealed the lineup of its new Red Carpet Cabaret season, opening on Friday 12 June. Over three weeks, some of Australia’s best cabaret and musical theatre performers will entertain an intimate gathering of diners in the theatre’s Two Trout restaurant.
