Music Theatre star and Neighbours TV villain Rob Mills is best known for his heart throb roles on the stage. He’s relishing a switch to a more cerebral part, as a scheming agent, in a national concert tour of the musical CHESS. David Spicer reports.

The Australian Musical Theatre Festival’s full 2021 performance and workshop program has been announced, including the artists and teachers, who collectively will bring the best of Broadway to Launceston! Between them, they have starred in blockbuster musicals, performed on international stages, coached our finest performers and become familiar faces in the industry.

Leading theatre producer John Frost has sold his company to US juggernaut Crossroads Live. But the impresario is not retiring. In an exclusive interview with David Spicer, he revealed the musicals - and a play - that he will produce across Australia.

When the pandemic hit, producer John Frost had no less than five major musicals on the go and he told me that he expected to stay on the sidelines until the middle of this year.

The Wedding Singer Cast and Crew

David Venn Enterprises has announced the creative team and full cast list for feel-good musical The Wedding Singer, which will have its Australian professional premiere on Friday 9 April.

New seats have been released in Adelaide, while the Melbourne season has been extended until 5 June. Tickets to Adelaide, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney are on sale via weddingsingermusical.com.au.

Multi award-winning Australian music theatre and opera star Taryn Fiebig, who made Prince Charles cry with her artistry, passed away in Sydney on March 20, 2021 from ovarian cancer, aged 49.  An outstanding human being, cherished colleague and sublime artist, has left the party.

Sydney Theatre Company Artistic Director Kip Williams has unveiled ‘Act Two’, eleven shows to complete STC’s 2021 season that he says will be a “celebration of the new Wharf theatres and a collection of stories that bring us together to laugh and connect following a year of isolation".

Opera Australia in association with The Really Useful Group, will present Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, making its premiere at the Sydney Opera House, starring Josh Piterman as the Phantom.
