New Theatre is Turning 80: Season 2012 Announced
Sydney’s New Theatre launched their new brand, developed in collaboration with Principal Partner, Interbrand, on January 17, along with the productions that will make up their 80thAnniversary year season.
Season 2012 includes three Australian premieres and the World premieres of two new Australian works both by emerging female playwrights, together with a selection of modern classics from Ireland, England and Australia.
Renato Fabretti and Mackenzie Steele, both graduates from the 2011 NIDA Directors Course, each take charge of a mainstream production, and they will be joined by four of New’s most experienced directors: Louise Fischer, Kevin Jackson, Alice Livingstone and Rosane McNamara.
The Spare Room, New’s season of co-productions with independent companies, will continue for a second year, following on from the success of the inaugural season in 2011, features projects by three independent companies: Chester Productions, Us-A-Um and pantsguys Productions.
