This year, the Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival 2016 program features a major arts and cultural focus on Hong Kong including two Australian premieres.
With support from the Hong Kong Economic Trade Office (HKETO) and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to promote a range of arts and culture from Hong Kong to Australian audiences, the Festival presents:
· Hong Kong Dragon will feature as the main lantern in Moon Lantern Festival, with anticipated audience of more than 40,000 people;
One Eyed Man Productions in association with Hayes Theatre Co has announced the cast of SIDE SHOW, due to play a strictly limited four-week season at Hayes Theatre Co from September 23. The Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical tells a stunning tale of sisterhood. With music from the composer of Dreamgirls, SIDE SHOW is based on the remarkable real-life story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton and their transition from ‘circus freaks’ to megastars.
The Adelaide Festival announces the return of the Barrie Kosky in March 2017 with his newest production, George Frideric Handel’s Saul. Produced by the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, it will form the centrepiece of the 2017 Adelaide Festival.

A new report has found that Melbourne’s iconic East End theatres contributed over two-thirds of a billion dollars to the Victorian economy in 2014-15, demonstrating the enduring appeal of the historic venues.
In a report by Ernst & Young released today (July 8, 2016), the East End theatres – the Princess, Her Majesty’s, Regent, Comedy, Forum and Athenaeum theatres – also generated an economic impact of $226 million (new money entering the state), and created 3000 jobs.
