Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta 2023 Program

Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP) has announced its program of work for 2023, described as a season of empowerment and place, of finding the voice within, and reclaiming identities, next year’s line-up turns up the volume with internationally acclaimed work, sitting alongside the talent and brilliance of Western Sydney creatives.

Chalkface

A zany new comedy about teaching in a primary school had its debut in Adelaide ahead of seasons in Sydney, Parramatta and Canberra. Jude Hines speaks to the writer and creatives of the play, described as a tribute to teachers dealing with a screwdriver and a hurricane.

Multi-award-winning Australian writer Angela Betzien, now a parent herself, grew up as a child of two teachers. They shared stories of notorious students like one who the family referred to as Scewdriver, because he brought one to school to use as a weapon.

Wicked Returns to Sydney in 2023

NSW Minister for Tourism and the Arts, Ben Franklin, together with producers John Frost for Crossroads Live Australia, Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone, today announced that WICKED, will open in Sydney in August 2023 at the Sydney Lyric.

Sydney Theatre Company Season 2023

For the first time since the pandemic began, Sydney Theatre Company Artistic Director Kip Williams (pictured above, photo by Daniel Boud) has announced a full season of 16 productions for 2023 which he says will "see the Company operating at full steam and offer an amazing breadth of theatrical experiences".

Two Strong Hearts

Two very different theatre companies in Adelaide and Brisbane will mount productions this year of The Normal Heart – Larry Kramer’s powerful play set in 1980’s New York at Ground Zero of the AIDS crisis. Beth Keehn explores why the play still resonates today.

Mother May We

Mother May We, Mel Ree’s debut solo show, plays at the SBW Stables Theatre from 28 September - 8 October 2022 as part of the Griffin Lookout program, celebrating the best of independent Sydney theatre. Big in the spoken word scene, Mel is the creative powerhouse and host of Revolution Renegade – a space for BIPOC Queer Excellence. Cast Announced for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Tim Lawson in association with Michael Harrison and The Really Useful Group have announce the adult ensemble cast for the Melbourne and Sydney seasons of Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Performances commence 13 November at the Regent Theatre, Melbourne and 11 February at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney.
