The 2021 Adelaide Festival program, prepared over this past turbulent year under ever-changing circumstances, may just turn out to be one of the most necessary – and memorable.

Launched on Thursday 3 December at the Adelaide Festival Theatre, the 36th Adelaide Festival offers a total of 70 events in theatre, music, opera, dance, film, food and visual arts.

RENT at Sydney Opera House - Full Cast

Tim Omaji, popularly known as Timomatic, and Robert Tripolino join previously announced cast Callum Francis (Kinky Boots) and Seann Miley Moore (UK X Factor) in the brand new Australian production of RENT. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Jonathan Larson’s multiple Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning sensation will be coming to the Sydney Opera House Drama Theatre from 27 December 2020 to 31 January 2021.

Shrek at QPAC First 100% Capacity Audience Musical

Shrek, Fiona and Donkey are coming to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in the first major musical to open to a 100% capacity audience in Australia, without a special exemption required, since the onset of COVID-19.

Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said Shrek The Musical would boost tourism, local small business and jobs in the arts sector.
