Maxine Mellor Wins 2023 Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award

At a function held at the Seaborn Broughton and Walford Foundation (SBW) Christmas Party on November 23, Diana Simmonds, Chair of Trustees, announced that Brisbane playwright, MAXINE MELLOR had won the 2023 Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award for her play O’Mighty Make-Believe.  It was the unanimous choice of the Trustees after a blind reading of the 2023 entries.

Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta 2024 Season

Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta (NTofP) has announced a program of premiere work for 2024, promising a “commitment to presenting inspiring work that uplifts fresh voices is at the heart of the 2024 season, with NTofP taking great pleasure in curating a vibrant lineup of exclusively culturally diverse artists, celebrating their rich contributions to Sydney’s arts scene through new Australian works, alongside acclaimed international productions.”

Audra McDonald to Tour in 2024

Audra McDonald, international singing phenomenon, Broadway superstar, television and film star, will be heading to Australia in May 2024, performing concerts in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Audra said, “I’m delighted to return to Australia, and once again perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House and the wonderful Hamer Hall in Melbourne. This trip marks my first time performing in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and I can’t wait to get to know the Australian audiences and experience these beautiful cities next May.”

Northern Territory Performing Arts Awards Finalists Announced

Talented and inspiring artists and arts workers are being recognised for the valuable contribution they make to the Northern Territory’s inspirational performing arts sector at the NT Performing Arts Awards. The NT Government’s Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities announced the 25 individual and performance finalists for the 2023 NT Performing Arts Awards, which recognise the achievements of Territorians on stage, in the classroom, and behind-the-scenes, and celebrate those who make a creative difference to our community.
