David Campbell to Star in North by Northwest

Following seasons in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane the U.K. and Toronto, the stage adaption of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest will play an exclusive limited season at Sydney Lyric Theatre from March 9 2022.

Sydney Theatre Company Artistic Director Kip Williams has announced Act 1, six shows to kick off STC’s 2022 season that he says will “celebrate the joy, revelation and connection only theatre can offer” as the industry returns to the stage.

Black Swan State Theatre Company describes its 2022 season of theatre as a celebration and exploration of connection and family. It is called KIN and promise to explore how we are connected as family, from bloodlines right through to a virtual family. 

State Theatre Company South Australia 2022 Season

State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2022 season ranges from new Australian works and a big new musical to a shaken-up classic and celebration of an Australian sporting legend.

The company, which in 2022 marks 50 years since it was legislated into being by former Premier Don Dunstan, officially launched the season at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 13 Oct.

Artistic Director Mitchell Butel says he has set out to deliver a dynamic and ambitious season, with theatrical experiences ranging from grand and sweeping to the intensely intimate.

Belvoir has announced the productions making up its 2022 season. Next year sees nine plays (and one repertory season) take to the stage.

Belvoir Artistic Director, Eamon Flack said, “Theatre is a leap of faith at the best of times: anything could happen at any moment. It’s the one-off-ness that makes it special. The pandemic only makes it even more special. The instinct to gather for a story is irrepressible. It’ll never end. We’re still here. Join us”.

Perahu-Perahu to Premiere at OzAsia Festival

Stunning imagery and live music turn the traditional art form of ‘wayang kulit’ on its head in the world premiere of Perahu-Perahu at Adelaide’s OzAsia Festival from 27 October.

Indonesian-Australian artist Jumaadi shares his vision with our SA correspondent, Mark Wickett.

‘Perahu-Perahu’ means ‘boats’ in Indonesian, and this production explores the precarious relationship between humans and the sea using the ancient storytelling technique of shadow play.

An American in Paris Coming to Australia

Stop Press: An American in Paris Adelaide and Perth seasons postponed

The Australian Ballet and GWB Entertainment today (January 17, 2022) announced that due to the current impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, next month’s Adelaide and Perth seasons of An American in Paris will be postponed.

New season dates will be announced as soon as possible for both cities, with ticket holders urged to hold onto their tickets until new dates are confirmed.
