Darlinghurst Theatre Company 2014: Inaugural Eternity Playhouse Season
Darlinghurst Theatre Company has announced a program of contemporary and classic drama for its inaugural season at the Eternity Playhouse, Sydney’s exciting new theatre venue.
Announced earlier this year, Darlinghurst Theatre Company will open Eternity Playhouse with Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, which will preview from November 1, and open on November 5. Directed by Iain Sinclair, All My Sons is a compelling and heartbreaking story about family ties, patriotic duty and personal greed.
The 2014 season kicks off with the Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos, a quirky yet tender tale about family, growing up and what it means to be a man.
The line-up continues with the satirical The Gigli Concert, subversive comedy The Young Tycoons, the new Australian play Every Second, Nick Payne’s West End hit Constellations, a return season of The Motherf**ker with the Hat and rounding off the season is Nick Enright’s Daylight Saving.
Darlinghurst Theatre Company Director Glenn Terry wants audiences to experience the power and possibilities of live theatre and for each production to inspire reflection and dialogue about the world. “Every show in our inaugural season brings together a new team of outstanding artists, who will present their unique artistic vision and perspectives on theatre and life,” he said.
“Our inaugural season at the Eternity Playhouse pays homage to independent artists and to theatre itself. From the grand to the intimate, from the tragic to the whimsical and from the small to the infinite, we’ve got it all.”
Opening in November 2013, the Eternity Playhouse (the repurposed Burton Street Tabernacle) features stunning architecture, brand new state-of the-art facilities and iconic place in Sydney’s history.
