Groundhog Day for Melbourne in 2024

Groundhog Day The Musical will have its Australian premiere at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, playing a limited season from January 24, 2024, the show's producers GWB Entertainment have announced.

The musical, based on the 1993 film, comes from the creatives behind Matilda The Musical (on stage and film), telling the story of a man trapped inside one day on repeat.

Beauty and the Beast for Brisbane and Melbourne

Brisbane and Melbourne audiences will experience the romance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast when the much-anticipated respective seasons of the hit musical opens in Brisbane in February 2024 and Melbourne in June 2024.  The last time Beauty and the Beast played for Melbourne audiences was nearly three decades ago, when it premiered in 1995. This will be the first time the show has ever played in Brisbane!

The sixth Brisbane Music Festival is currently preparing to open in a brand new, independent and intimate performing space in Brisbane – with Part 1 from 23 to 29 October and Part 2 from 4 to 10 December. Beth Keehn spoke to the festival’s Artistic Director, Alex Raineri, to find out what audiences can expect this year.

RENT To Tour in 2024

LPD Productions has declared there is “no day like today” as it announced the multi-Tony Award winning rock musical by Jonathan Larson, RENT, will embark on a national tour in 2024. The musical will commence in Brisbane in January 2024 followed by seasons in Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth and Canberra, with tickets on sale in coming months.

Opera Australia Summer 2024 Season

Opera Australia (OA) has announced its 2024 Sydney Summer Season with guest Creative Director Lindy Hume presenting five Sydney Opera House premieres, having been invited by CEO Fiona Allan to curate the season.

Incoming Artistic Director Jo Davies officially takes up the reins in November and is currently working remotely on the remainder of the 2024 national season that will be announced later in the year.
