Griffin Theatre Company 2022 Season

Griffin Theatre Company has announced its 2022 season, with new works from Australian playwrights, along with two Australian plays making their Sydney premiere.

Griffin will also present several special events, including the return of the 2021 sell-out phenomenon Green Park as part of Sydney Festival (image above - photographer Sally Flegg).

Sydney Festival’s 2022 line-up – the first helmed by artistic director Olivia Ansell – has been announced.

Events range from mainstage gigs for 12,000 to intricate musical moments ensconced in the city’s waterways; from Broadway hits to a ballet of BMX bikes; from a symphony under the stars to a cacophonous contemporary corroboree; from intimate moments for one to a rave on Mount Olympus

Cast and Dates for Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella

Lyndon Terracini for Opera Australia and John Frost for Crossroads Live have announced that the Tony® Award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella will have its Australian Premiere at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from 20 May 2022, with a season at the Sydney Lyric Theatre from 23 October.

Stars of Moulin Rouge!

With its kaleidoscope of blended pop songs and eye-popping scenery, Moulin Rouge! The Musical has opened in Melbourne in November 2021 after being put on ice during the lockdown. David Spicer speaks to the stars Des Flanagan (Christian), Alinta Chidzey (Satine) and Simon Burke (Harold Zidler).

In 2019 Des Flanagan stood on the stage of Moulin Rouge! at the Al Hirschfield Theatre on Broadway and stared out at the empty theatre. The young performer had just watched the production, from a standing room ticket space supplied by a friend in the cast.

A Chorus Line for Parramatta

Riverside Theatres, in partnership with Sydney Festival, is thrilled to announce the Australian premiere season of the much-anticipated Broadway smash A Chorus Line as part of its dazzling 2022 program.

Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s new production of the Tony Award-winning musical, which was originally slated to open last year, is now set to kick off at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta on 6 January.
