Willoughby Set to Makes a Splash With Singin’ in the Rain

Willoughby Theatre Company (WTC) presents the stage version of classic MGM movie musical Singin' in the Rain at The Concourse Theatre in Chatswood from October 12 to 27, 2024.

Redolent with all the glitz, glamour, and joy of Hollywood's golden age to life, it captures the transition from silent films to "talkies" with a mix of comedy, romance, and dazzling spectacle, and featuring unforgettable songs like "Good Morning," "Make 'Em Laugh," and the iconic title number "Singin' in the Rain".

With a talented cast led by Matthew De Meyrick as Don Lockwood, Taryn-Lea Bright as Kathy Selden, Jerome Studdy as Cosmo Brown, and Nikole Music as Lina Lamont, this show promises to transport audiences back to the charm of 1920s Hollywood.

Director Declan Moore shares his excitement for the show, saying, “Singin’ in the Rain is more than just a beloved musical; It's a celebration of creativity and resilience. Our goal is to bring the vibrant energy and heart of this iconic story to life, with every drop of rain and every step of choreography. We’ve combined classic elements with fresh ideas to create something magical, and I’m so proud of the entire cast and crew for their dedication to making this vision a reality.”

President of WTC, Scott Richmond, adds, "This production encapsulates everything WTC stands for — exceptional theatre, a dedicated team, and a community spirit. Singin’ in the Rain is a show that will delight audiences young and old, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”

Willoughby Theatre Company promises dazzling choreography, exquisite costumes, and a set design that brings the golden age of Hollywood to life, with equally breathtaking technical elements featuring actual rain on stage to immerse audiences in its most iconic moments, and cutting-edge special effects.

This live version of one of the most celebrated movie musicals of all time, Singin' in the Rain, runs from October 12 to 27, 2024, at The Concourse Theatre, Chatswood.
