Panic Stations: Farce at Garrick

A MIX of confusion, surprising disasters, eccentric characters, sexual escapades and misunderstandings form the recipe for the first season of 2015 at Garrick Theatre (WA).

Written by Derek Benfield and directed by Fred Petersen, Panic Stations follows the hapless Chester Dreadnought who becomes embroiled in one debacle after another when he unsuspectingly buys a property near an artillery range destined for demolition.

Jigsaws Pieces Together Family Drama at Old Mill

THE Old Mill Theatre (WA) is starting 2015 with the incisive and witty family drama Jigsaws – set in Perth in the late 1980s – by Jennifer Rogers.

Directed by Adam Salathiel, the show opens in February and is the first in a year of all-Australian plays to commemorate the centenary of the Gallipoli landing.

Jigsaws is about three generations of women in the same family where life seems like a jigsaw puzzle: sometimes the pieces fit, sometimes they don’t and often it’s incomplete.

Lucky For Some: Thirteen 13-year-olds in Stage Musical

THE first Broadway musical to star an all teenage cast is being staged in Perth as part of the FRINGE WORLD Festival 2015, focusing on the life of 13-year-olds.

With music and lyrics by popular musical theatre composer Jason Robert Brown, the aptly-titled 13 – being performed at Playlovers Theatre – follows Evan who, just shy of becoming a teenager, suddenly has to cope with his parents’ divorce and a move from New York to Indiana.

Stirling Players (WA) are presenting Seussical as part of the City of Stirling’s Summerset Festival from January 16 to 31, 2015.

CHRISTMAS shopping is being put under the spotlight this December with a light-hearted, music-filled festive romp.

Presented by Dark Psychic Productions at Phoenix Theatre, Hamilton Hill, WA, A Retailer’s Christmas is a comedy musical following the adventures of retail staff during their busiest time of the year.

The show, written by Rebecca Coutts-Smith who is co-directing the production with Ryan S. McNally, looks at what really happens when customers ask staff to “check out the back”.

Christmas Comic Capers for Perth

From the North Pole through to Bethlehem and back, Elfin Productions is delivering never-before-told tales of Christmas at the Latvian Centre Theatre in Belmont, WA.

Written and directed by John Grimshaw, This is Christmas features various iconic figures such as Jesus, Santa Claus, Rudolph, Prancer and three questionably wise men.

Music Theatre Guild of Victoria Open Section Bruce Award Winners 2014

Presentations for the winners of the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria's 28th Annual Bruce Awards were held on December 13, 2014 at the George Woods Performing Arts Centre, Yarra Valley Grammar.

Wonthaggi Theatrical Group's production of Jesus Christ Superstar was the big winner at the 2014 Bruce Awards, taking out six awards including the  Production of the Year and Direction Awards.
