SHOUT! J’OK Rock Musical for Country Music Capital
When the curtain goes up on Tamworth Musical Society’s production of SHOUT! The Legend of The Wild One at Tamworth’s 402 seat Capitol Theatre on May 11, it will be playing to a packed opening night audience, with advance bookings for the season already in excess of 1800 seats.
That’s a remarkable advance when you consider that the City of Tamworth only has an area population of around 55,000.
SHOUT! tells the story of Johnny O'Keefe, the King of Australian Rock 'n' Roll.
It's the mid-70s and Johnny O'Keefe is taking his new fiance for one last look at The Sydney Stadium, the scene of so many of his triumphs. Soon it will be demolished to make way for the new Eastern Suburbs Railway. Johnny reminisces about the Australian music scene and his life.
SHOUT! features over thirty great songs of the period including JO’K hits She’s My Baby, Wild One, Right Now, So Tough and the title song Shout, together with Crazy, Purple People Eater, Bye Bye Baby, I’m Gonna Knock On Your Door and many more hit songs.
The cast features Roshani Priddis, Michael Hansen, Aaron Jones, Ryan Kenyon and Geraldine Palmer, with direction by Jason Palmer, musical direction by Tim Godden and choreography by Cherie Gaites & Anika Chillingworth.
The Tamworth Musical Society has been providing musical theatre for the people of Tamworth and the surrounding district since 1888.
