Savoyards Roast Broadway

Savoyards Musical Comedy Society Inc., Brisbane’s longest continuously running community based musical theatre company is staging New York’s longest-running musical comedy revue, Forbidden Broadway, spoofing Broadway’s biggest hits including Les Misérables, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Spamalot and Legally Blonde, from February 15 - 23, 2014 at the NEW Star Theatre, Wynnum High School, Manly (Brisbane].

Forbidden Broadway is a wickedly funny roast of Broadway musicals, featuring talented Brisbane community theatre artists singing hilarious songs celebrating Broadway’s favourite shows and brightest stars.

Created and written by Gerard Alessandrini, Forbidden Broadway has received international acclaim and countless rave reviews, including an Obie Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, several Drama Desk Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical in 2005 and a 2006 Tony© Honour for Excellence in the Theatre. Forbidden Broadway has performed thousands of shows to audiences worldwide.

The New York Daily News hailed Forbidden Broadway as “Sly, delicious and viciously witty” and the Associated Press raved, “The laughs come at breakneck speed! The jokes fly by so fast, you'll wish you could hit rewind!”
