Our Town at Hunters Hill
A landmark in American drama, Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town tells the story of a small town, Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, in order to tell us the story of every town, the whole world over. Narrated by the “Stage Manager”, we follow the Gibbs and Webb families, residents of Grover’s Corners, through twelve years of life changes -- from the mundane in Act I, “Daily Life,” to the romantic in Act II, “Love and Marriage,” to the finale in Act III, “Death and Eternity.”
Through the young lovers Emily and George, their strong and loving parents, and the many other Grover’s Corners’ locals, Wilder delivers universal truths about what it means to be human.
“Oh, earth,” Emily Webb exclaims towards the play’s end, “you’re too wonderful for anyone to realize you.” With humour, wit, and exceptionally powerful storytelling, Our Town offers a unique opportunity for audience members to make precisely that realization.
Directed by Kaye Lopez who has directed the HHT production of Brief Encounter, this play is a hymn to the ordinary yet rich lives of a community.
Our Townis playing from November 22 – December 1, 2019 at Hunters Hill Town Hall, 22 Alexandra Street, Hunters Hill. Bookings can be made online at www.huntershilltheatre.com.au, alternatively phone bookings can be made on 0403 224 980.

ABOUT HUNTERS HILL THEATRE
Hunters Hill Theatre (HHT) is a community group proudly based in Hunters Hill, Sydney and performing four productions a year at the Hunters Hill Town Hall. The group was founded in 1930 as the Hunters Hill Play Reading and Dramatic Club and has been performing in the district continuously ever since.
Originally performing in the St Johns Church Hall, Woolwich, the group moved into the old St Johns Church in Margaret St, Woolwich in 1995 after an arson attack on the hall saw it and most of the group’s assets destroyed. In 2016 the parish sold St Johns Church forcing HHT to find a new home. With the support of the Hunters Hill Council HHT relocated to the Hunters Hill Town Hall for their 2017 & 2018 seasons.
The group and its productions are staffed entirely by members and volunteers, managed by the committee, and is proud to support the Marist Sisters' Colleges theatre studies programme by including students in several productions a year.
