Shaw’s Pygmalion for Limelight Theatre

GEORGE Bernard Shaw’s most popular play – the inspiration for the musical My Fair Lady – plays at Perth’s Limelight Theatre in October 2017. 

Directed by Jacob Turner, Pygmalion is the classic story of a young, lower-class Cockney girl who, in a short time, is transformed into a refined lady of the upper class.

The play, first performed in 1913, lampoons the British class system of the day and provides countless comedic moments.

Wicked at Glen Street Theatre

Manly Musical Society is presenting the Broadway hit Wicked at Glen Street Theatre, Belrose, for a limited run of ten performances in December 2017. 

Bendigo’s Youth in Barnum

Tribe Youth Theatre’s members from seven Bendigo secondary schools are gearing up for some exciting and entertaining performances in the September school holidays.

The Broadway musical Barnumtells the story of Phineas Taylor Barnum, an American remembered largely for being a 19th century circus owner. But before he was involved with the circus, he chalked up a lifetime of showmanship.

Director, Vanessa Bate, said that the cast are relishing their experience rehearsing this colourful and vibrant musical.

Ladies in Lavender at Castle Hill

Castle Hill Players presents Ladies in Lavender from Friday 22 September until Saturday 14 October, 2017.  A short story by William J Locke was transformed into an utterly charming film featuring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.  This production was adapted for the stage by Shaun McKenna and the endearing characters are brought to life by Sandy Velini as Ursula and Jennifer Leslie as Janet.

Brisbane Italian Language Theatre Presents Comedy Double-bill

After two years of bringing French language plays to the stage, Growl Theatre will be joining forces with Danteatro to perform a double bill of Italian language plays during October 2017.

In an Australian first, works by world-renowned playwright Dario Fo (winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature 1997) and Stefano Benni will be performed in their original language, with English surtitles.
