The Mousetrap set for Strathmore
STAG (Strathmore, Victoria) commemorates the 60th Anniversary of Agatha Christie’s mystery The Mousetrap with a production directed by Drew Mason. The Mousetrap will be presented at the Strathmore Community Hall from March 1 to 10.
Three Blind Mice, See How They Die!
The longest running 'whodunit' in the world, The Mousetrap, is now about to be presented in Strathmore.
Trapped in a blizzard, phone lines down, roads blocked, the unlucky occupants of a suitably isolated guesthouse are unsure of their fate but sure of one thing: someone has murder on their mind.
What dark secrets do they share? What has brought them together in this place? Who will survive? Someone will die. Make sure you don't ever tell whodunit.
Christie's stage play the Mousetrap holds the record for the longest initial run: it opened at the Ambassadors Theatre in London on 25 November 1952 and is still running today.
Director Drew Mason says of directing The Mousetrap, “I have been a fan of Agatha Christie’s works since I was a teenager. I have long wanted to direct a Christie play, so when the rights were released for her most famous play, I jumped at the chance. I am honoured that STAG has entrusted me to bring this story to their audiences and to share my enthusiasm for one of the most famous plays to come out of the twentieth century. I could not be happier with the cast I have assembled who are working very diligently at creating the story from a fresh perspective and who love Christie’s words and characters as much as I do.” Drew has previously directed Extremities and Rebecca for STAG.
Among the cast are STAG regulars Luke Smith, Kellie Tweeddale, Clare Hayes, Veronica Hannebery, Roderick Chappel and Andrew Scarborough, and new to the STAG stage Dennis Hine St. Claire and Matthew Martin. Tony Leatch is recreating the setting of Monkswell Manor and Callum Robertson is designing the lighting.
