Hold onto your Hairdos Concord!

Broadway musical hit Hairspray is Ashfield Musical Society’s next production, opening on November 1st 2013 at Concord RSL (NSW).

Set in the 1960s in Baltimore, Tracy Turnblad (Anita Margiotta), a girl with big hair and big heart, dreams of dancing on her favourite TV show. She lands herself a role, and the interest of teenage heartthrob, Link Larkin (Cameron Anderson), much to the ire of Link’s girlfriend Amber Von Tussle (Danielle Bellini).

Tracy becomes an overnight sensation, and supported by her loving parents Edna (Phil Blaimey) and Wilbur (Robert Chard) and her best friend Penny (Monique Calarco), she has plans to end racial segregation, and hopefully win Miss Teenage Hairspray 1962 and Link’s heart. But TV Producer Velma Von Tussle (Fiona Kelly) has other ideas.  Can Tracy do it? – Only if it is Hairspray.

The all singing, all dancing cast of over 40 is led by the team of Musical Director John Tweed, Director Wendy Twiner and Choreographer by Katherine Wall.

Hairspray plays at Concord RSL Club Auditorium, Nullawarra Avenue, Concord West, from Friday 1st November to Sunday 10th November, with matinee and evening performances.
