Flying Into Fame

Birdie Productions has announced the two Professional cast members who will be leading their production of FAME, to be staged from 18th- 27th August 2017 at the Bryan Brown Theatre in Bankstown, NSW.

Kat Hoyos, currently starring as Layla Habib in Channel Nine’s comedy series Here Come The Habibs, will play Carmen Diaz. Kat has recently been nominated for BEST NEW TALENT in the 2017 TV Week Logie Awards, and the TV series has been nominated for BEST NEW DRAMA.

Kat’s stage credits include the Australian tours of Jersey Boys, HairsprayBring it On the Musical and Xanaduat Sydney’s Hayes Theatre.

Lyndall Wennekes makes her Musical Theatre debut as Serena Katz in FAME. Lyndall recently earned a place as a contestant on The Voice Australia (Season Four). She was the last one standing for Team Delta and earned her place in the Top 6 for the season.

Lyndall had her first taste of fame as a Young Talent Team Member in the revamped: Young Talent Time in 2012, being mentored by artists such as Tina Arena, Rob Mills and Stan Walker. Lyndall went on a national tour with Young Talent Time and danced in various shows including Dance Academy, X Factor and So You Think You Can Dance. 

Birdie Productions made its debut into the theatrical scene in 2015 with Hot Shoe Shuffle starring Daryl Somers. Since their debut, they have produced Keating!, 13: A New Musical and most recently, Seussical which starred Sam Moran (of Wiggles fame).

Birdie Productions uses a Pro-Am model, which means professional performers fill some lead roles, while the remainder of roles and ensemble will be open to all for auditions, providing a unique and exciting experience for all.

Kat Hoyos is best known for her work on Here Come The Habibs, with the hugely popular show into its second series launching in 2017.  In addition to Kat’s TV work she appeared in feature film Body in the Yard, directed by Stephen Wallace and co starring Luke Ford. Kat was part of the cast of The Road Home directed by Denie Pentecost, winning awards at The St Kilda Festival, The Mardi Gras Film Festival, Sarasota Festival, WOW Film Festival also receiving an academy accredited Flickerfest nomination.

Kat’s stage credits include Jersey Boys the Musical (Francine and others) – Australian and NZ tour, Hairspray the Musical (u/s Dynamites) – Australian Tour, Bring it On the Musical (Lead – Danielle) – Australian Tour and Xanadu: The Musical (Erato) at Sydney’s Hayes Theatre.

Kat has performed in music clips for Guy Sebastian, Paulini, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, and worked with choreographers Project Moda, The Squared Division, William A. Forsythe and more.

She is a seasoned TVC actor featuring in campaigns here and overseas such as Bonds, RTA, Pepsi Max, Mentos, Woolworths and McDonalds.

Kat has made TV appearances including the MTV and Aria Awards, Mornings, The Australian Open Tennis final, The Helpmann Awards, Sunrise, Hey Hey its Saturday, Dancing with The Stars and nationally televised Carols by Candlelight.

Since the success of Here come the Habibs she has appeared on numerous radio stations interstate as well as the prominent Today Show, Today Extra and the Easter Appeal in Adelaide, Starlight foundation Appeal (The Footy Show) and Channel 9’s Annual Gold Telethon.

Kat also appeared this year as a recurring personality on popular TV show, 20-1 (Channel 9), and is also set to appear on the next 20-1 series.

A graduate of the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre) Degree at the University of Wollongong and Cert IV at Brent St Performing Arts. Kat continues to train and extend her already vast range of skills with Les Chantery at The Actors Station, Peter Bodnar for singing and highly renowned acting coach, Anthony Brandon Wong.

Kat is a proud member of MEAA.

Lyndall Wennekes grew up singing and dancing with Glenda Yee School of Dance for 14 years. Since graduating, she studied at Ettingshausens Fulltime and Ev and Bow Fulltime Diploma. Lyndall had her first taste of fame as a Young Talent Team Member in the revamped: Young Talent Time in 2012. As part of the show she got the opportunity to work with artists incliuding Tina Arena, Rob Mills, Stan Walker, The Potbelleez, Sam Sparro and Andy Grammar.

Lyndall went on tour nationally with Young Talent Time and has made appearances in shows such as Dance Academy, X Factor and So You Think You Can Dance as a dancer.

Most recently, Lyndall was part of The Voice Australia season 4 where she earned a place in the Top 6, and was the last person standing for Team Delta.

Her stage credits include: Dora the Explorer (live), Candyman and Young Talent Time Live. Lyndall is excited to make her theatre debut as Serena in Fame.
