Community Theatre Conference
The Association of Community Theatre is pleased to announce details of the twelfth Stage Craft Conference of Community Theatre to be held in Sydney on the 21st and 22nd of September 2024.
This exciting program is for performers, directors, producers and backstage workers.
The venue is Australia’s premier theatre school, the National Institute of Dramatic Art, NIDA, 215 Anzac Parade Kensington.
The keynote speaker is Composer, Lyricist and Theatre Writer Laura Murphy. Her recent hit at the Hayes Theatre, Zombie the Musical!, was set in a community theatre.
Guest speakers during the weekend will be a combination of NIDA staff, theatre professionals and community theatre leaders, including Geraldine Turner, Wayne Scott-Kermond and Chloe Dallimore.

Participants from ACT member companies pay just $175 for a weekend of seminars, two lunches and dinner.
There are sixteen seminars to choose from including Marketing, Accents, Copyright, Directing Actors, Musical Theatre Audition Masterclass, Dancing, Make-Up, Stage Management, Costume Making, Technical Jobs, Intimacy Coaching, The Art of Clowning, Lighting and more.
On the Saturday night ACT patron Nancye Hayes AM will induct the latest recipients into ACT's Hall of Fame.
The ‘Hall of Fame’ awards honour those tireless workers behind the scenes in every community theatre company who have at least ten years involvement and have completed exceptional acts of service.
Entertainment will be provided by the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre Company's production of Shrek the Musical.
The conference will wind up with a forum considering the introduction of Greater Sydney community theatre awards.
ACT was founded in the mid '90s and assists community theatres by publicising their shows through the distribution of a What's On, offers Australia's best value public liability insurance policies and capital grants for members.
