Community Theatre Conference
Nancye Hayes, Wayne Scott Kermond and Geraldine Turner are three of the star speakers at the 11th Stagecraft community theatre conference, to be held at NIDA on September 22 and 23, 2018.
The Association of Community - an umbrella organisation for amateur theatre - has been hosting the conference since 1996. The weekend also includes the Hall of Fame awards, which honours volunteers who have dedicated decades of service to the non-profit companies.
Nancye Hayes will deliver the keynote address reflecting on her 50-year career, which commenced in community theatre and also lead a seminar on Directing a Musical.
Wayne Scott Kermond will dazzle at a music theatre seminar with a combination of Slapstick, Vaudeville, Physical Comedy, Tap and Dance.
Geraldine Turner will reflect on her successful career in a seminar on Auditioning for a Musical.
Other seminars by NIDA, professional and community theatre speakers are on Auditoning for a Play, Directing a Play, Copyright, Sound and Light 101, Front of House and Budgeting, Lighting Design, Small Set Building, Publicity, American Accents, Stage Combat, Costumes, Stage Safety, Stage Management and Voice.
The whole conference, including two lunches and dinner, costs just $140 for members of the Association of Community who book before Sept 1.
Entertainment will be provided by the Rockdale and Berowra Musical Societies.
This year for the first time delegates can elect to come one day of the conference.
