Cleopatra – Clash of the Fashion Houses
John Wikman Productions is proud to present a world premiere season of the new musical comedy - Cleopatra – Clash of the Fashion Houses - written and directed by John Wikman, in Brisbane from May 26.
This show is a musical comedy adaptation of the classic story about Egypt’s exotic Queen Cleopatra, but with a twist.
Set in the glamorous fashion world of 48BC, Cleopatra’s Pharaoh House of Fashion is in huge debt to the Roman Forum Emporium whose boss is Julius Caesar. Cleopatra seduces Caesar into forging a mutually beneficial alliance and develops her unique and memorable style.
After a public confrontation with villain Brutus Maximus and his evil soothsayer sister Octavian, Caesar has an augur with his Vestal Virgins and mysteriously goes missing. Caesar’s friend Marc Antony pledges his support to Cleopatra and is immediately captivated by her charms.
When Brutus declares market warfare on Antony and Cleopatra, she calls upon her forefather King Tutt for advice but could this lead to a happy or tragic ending for her?
The cast of 15 performers present a range of iconic characters with contagious energy and cheeky fun reminiscent of traditional English pantomime magic.
You might have read books about Cleopatra and seen TV documentaries/mini-series or movies, but nothing compares to seeing this stylish new musical comedy, touted as the next big show of the year.
