Catch the show (if you can!) at Miranda

All the thrills, twists and triumphs in the life of Frank Abagnale Jr will on stage in live and living colour at The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre.

Community theatre production company Miranda Musical Theatre Company (formerly Miranda Musical Society) proudly brings the musical Catch Me If You Can to the Sutherland Shire this April 10-14, 2024.

You’re taking you to the Miami International Airport in the 1960s, where Frank Jr – a teenage con artist who has successfully posed as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer – has just been caught by relentless FBI Agent, Carl Hanratty.

Frank Jr takes the audience through his whole journey, from living with his family in New Rochelle to forging checks in New York, to faking a medical degree in Atlanta and beyond.

Catch Me If You Can: The Musical is based on the fascinating semi-autobiographical book and Oscar-nominated film of the same name which follows the incredible journey of Frank Abagnale Jr as he performs cons worth millions of dollars, struggles with family life and eventually falls in love.

Nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this entertaining musical was created by Terrence McNally (creator of Ragtime), with a score by the same duo who wrote Hairspray – Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

This high-energy musical extravaganza will keep you on the edge of your seat as you follow Carl Hanratty’s chase of Frank Abagnale Jr.

Directed by Tim Dennis, with musical direction by Matt Herne and choreography from Chris Bamford, with a cast of local talent and a production team boasting years of experience in the world of musical theatre, MMTC promises to deliver a performance that will leave audiences spellbound and questioning if this is actually an amateur production.

Catch Me If You Can: The Musical features local performers including Daniel Simpson as Frank Abagnale Jr (Kareela), Sam Anderson as Carl Hanratty, Anthony Gibara as Frank Abagnale Sr (Engadine), Roslyn Howell as Paula Abagnale (Sans Soucie), Gianni-Mia Attrill-Dowling as Brenda Strong, Christopher Melotti as Roger Strong (Alfords Point), Leanne Trumper as Carol Strong (Gymea Bay) alongside a talented ensemble including Samuel Chapman, Jeff Mabey, Ellis Pinkerton and many more.
