Come to Bankstown’s Secret Garden
Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved Victorian children’s novel The Secret Garden, reimagined as a musical by composer Lucy Simon and Pulitzer Prize-winner, Marsha Norman, is Bankstown Theatre Company’s October 2016 production.
Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle, Archibald and his invalid son, Colin. Surrounded by spirits from the past, who both warn and welcome her, determined Mary begins to peel away the layers of sadness that cover the house and the garden, showing us the power that “one small girl” can have when she “wants things to grow.” The Secret Garden is a compelling tale of forgiveness and renewal.
Directed by Diane Wilson, Greg Crease as Musical Director and Choreography by BTC President Edward Rooke, BTC’s The Secret Garden features Rebecca Carter as Lily, Daniel Kenyon as Archibald Craven along with Caitlin Frazer & Annie Henderson sharing the title role of Mary Lennox and Jeremy Salmon & Ryan Yeates sharing the role of Colin. Cast includes Luke Lamond, Jessica Green, Mitchell Jacka, Neil Litchfield, Amanda Griffith, Joy Pennock and Phil Plunkett.
