The Crucible at NAPA
By Arthur Miller. National Academy of Performing Arts. NAPA Studios, Bureigh, Gold Coast. Director: Amy Anderson. 12thNovember, 2016
NAPA has been extremely busy these past 3 months staging performances from the variety of theatre that they teach.
The Crucible is the final production for their Drama students and also the first show in their new premises in Burleigh.
This dramatic piece is an odd choice for teenagers to perform but Amy Anderson presented a highly polished production. Staged ‘in the round’ (this would make many older actors nervous) the students performed with confidence and aplomb. The atmosphere was created from the start and maintained throughout the play.
There were too many outstanding performances to list here but, needless to say, every one contributed to the success of this famous play. The appreciative audience enjoyed the experience of witnessing just how far these young performers had come under the tutors and they have a bright future in the world of Show Business.
