World Premiere of New Australian Astaire/Rogers Musical

World Premiere of New Australian Astaire/Rogers Musical

Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers made ten films together between 1933 and 1949. They were the most popular dance team of the 20th Century and they captured the hearts of the world. New Australian I Won’t Dance: The new Astaire/Rogers Musical is a loving tribute to the work of Astaire & Rogers. Celebrating their light-hearted screwball comedy style, this show includes a plethora of timeless hit songs from the Astaire/Rogers films including, Cheek to Cheek, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Let’s Face the Music and Dance and many more. The score also showcases some wonderful lesser known music from their films including Music Makes Me and the hilarious Let’s K-nock K-nees.

Written by Josh Sanders, this show integrates aspects of the ten Astaire/Rogers films, weaving them into a seamless new work. This show appeals to a wide range of audiences from senior citizens, film buffs and musical theatre fans, to young people, families and performers.

This show is being co-presented with Her Majesty’s Theatre, Ballarat. It is also proudly supported by the Ballarat Light Opera Company and the Fedaration University Arts Academy.
