Smithy
Rose Bay High School, Hobart - November 12 and 13, 2009.
Rose Bay High School recently performed four sold performances of Smithy on at The Rosny College Auditorium.
Smithy is a two-act musical written by Simon and Jo Denver. It revolves around Michael Smith, the school bogan, who discovers that the only way to kiss the girl of his dreams is to play Romeo in the school play. Of course he believes that Romeo and Juliet is all about fighting and kissing. He highjack’s the show until the entire cast are in pandemonium and the Drama teacher is medicated and soon finds that Drama can be compelling and extremely dramatic! The cast and crew rehearsed for months and soon discovered that life really does imitate art.
Our cast performed to approximately 500 of our feeder primary schools students during the two matinee shows and followed these with two performances at night which were warmly received by appreciative audiences.
