High School Musical
Based on the Disney Movie by Peter Barsocchini. Xavier Catholic College, Skenners Head, Ballina. Director: Naomie Fitzgerald. June 28th – 30th, 2018
With more than 110 cast members, this was a mammoth production. Staged in the multi-purpose Auditorium/Gym, the setting worked well – including a mini basket ball game! And the cast of secondary scholars were equal to the task.
All the Principals and supports played off each other naturally in a well rehearsed presentation, accompanied by a 7 piece orchestra (mainly of pupils) which made this show truly a High School Musical.
In such a huge company it is difficult to single out individual performances; however it would be remiss of me not to mention Troy – Eamon Schultz, Gabriella – Tamara Degotardi, Sharpay – Trixie Miller and Ryan – Tom Gosling.
Head of the Production Team Naomie Fitzgerald should be very proud of all involved as the logistics of managing such a large cast went off without a glitch. The energy of the show was electrifying and infectious.
What a great way to introduce future performers and audiences to the wonderful world of live theatre. Well done.
