What Doesn't Kill You [Blah Blah] Stronger
What Doesn’t Kill You [Blah Blah] Stronger is quite possibly the funniest show at Fringe World, and while seeing it may not make you stronger, it will certainly leave you feeling better.
The cabaret, featuring original songs, with book and lyrics by Tyler Jacob Jones and music by Robert Woods, looks at some of the most bizarre survival stories in history, from Scottish Alexander Selkirk who survived years being marooned on an island, training an army of cats, through Anne Hodges, who survived being struck by a meteorite, to the three time shipwrecked Violet Jessop. In between there are a lot of feces and some great survival tips. The songs are clever, beautifully realised musically and the myriad of characters are gorgeously fleshed out. The show includes a micro-operetta and mini-musical.
The performers are amazing. Working seamlessly together (they have a long-standing professional partnership), Erin Hutchinson and Tyler Jones have beautiful comic timing, create wonderful and hilarious characters and their singing is simply stunning.
This is a really short season, so act now and grab tickets for the most hilarious (and peculiarly educational) musical experience you will have in a long time.
