Theatre of Magic

Theatre of Magic
Performed and Devised by Christopher Wayne, Josh Norbido, and Kerry Domann. Map Room, Treasury Hotel. Two Shows Each Saturday Evening from March 2024

Venturing into Brisbane's Theatre of Magic feels akin to stepping through a portal into another world. It’s reminiscent of a bygone era, with the venue’s décor, performers’ garb, and pre-show tunes all designed to set the mood of old-school opulence.

Guided by the masterful hand of magician extraordinaire Christopher Wayne, whose repertoire includes the globally acclaimed The Naked Magicians and Showmen, Theatre of Magic emerges as a haven where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur into a seamless tapestry of wonder. Wayne and his fellow conjurers, including the suave card manipulator Josh Norbido and the charming Kerry 'Nigel' Domann, captivate the audience from start to finish as the laws of physics take a backseat and the extraordinary becomes the norm.

Nestled within the opulent confines of The Map Room, a 45-seat jewel within the Treasury Hotel, Theatre of Magic provides an evening steeped in mystery and allure. The evening begins with an up-close showcase of magic that defies explanation. The journey into the unreal continues with a mesmerising parlour show that leaves spectators scratching their heads in disbelief.

What’s most striking about Theatre of Magic is not just the skill of the performers, but their ability to engage and connect with the audience on a personal level. There's a sense of camaraderie that permeates the entire experience, from the warm welcome at the door to the playful banter during tricks. As a result, it feels less like a performance and more like an intimate gathering among friends.

It's a journey that's as enchanting as it is unforgettable, and one that is recommend to anyone in need of a little magic in their lives. While some may find themselves trying to unravel the secrets behind each illusion, there can be greater joy found in simply surrendering to the magic and allowing oneself to be swept away by the spectacle.

Perhaps one of their best feats, after an initial trial period, Theatre of Magic has found a permanent home at the Treasury Hotel in the heart of Brisbane's CBD, where shows play twice each Saturday night. Tickets are available through the official website at theatreofmagic.com.au.
