Stormwater
It took me a while to warm to the experience that is Stormwater. This multi-sensory dramatic experience is at first both a little overwhelming and disjointed, but I found myself completely drawn into this story of a family reunited under stressful circumstances.
Existence Theatre Productions, led by Elisabeth Eitelberger and Bello Benishauer, have developed Stormwater especially for this space at Room 204 at Girls School. It draws on the latest developments and currents of European Postdramatic theatre and performance art. Played on a transverse stage in a small space, the audience are addressed directly, given props to hold and are physically drawn into the action. It is multi-sensory - with complete underscoring and multiple projection, and there is a great deal of movement.
Excellent interaction and commitment to character from the all female cast - Elisabeth Eitelberger, Jemma Fleming, Johanna Valency and Vee McGuire - as they portray a family dealing with an impending disaster as well as the pressures of society and gender expectations against a pair of siblings who are in love.
A wonderful choice for students of theatre, lovers of new work and new development and those who like their theatre intimate and intense.
