MissCast Again
Some of our favourite Musical Theatre performers perform songs that they are "wrong for”, whether they be the incorrect gender, age or colour to perform these roles under ‘normal’ circumstances. Zealous Productions’ MissCast Again is an entirely new show based on the premise of last year’s very successful MissCast.
We delve into the teenage diaries of these performers as a jumping off point to launch some very unlikely group and individual performances. Opening the show by bursting into a rendition of “Teenage Dirtbag”, we see some outstanding performances in this 45 minute show, that leaves you wanting more.
This is a production where I am reluctant to reveal a great deal, as the surprise value is excellent, but watch out for Dixie Johnstone’s gorgeous “Sweet Transvestite”, Rachel Monamy’s touching rendition of “Mr Cellophane”, Zac Bennett-McPhee’s unexpected choice from West Side Story, Manuao TeAotonga’s brilliant “Somewhere That’s Green” - with a delightful surprise in the tail, and Chris Gerrish’s very funny Olivia tribute, as well as a collection of production numbers and some awesome costume changes.
Very, very funny but also stunningly performed by top-notch singers and dancers, this is a must see for Musical Theatre fans and a great choice for those who want to see a fun, vibrant show.
