Improv Attacks Humanity
Improv Attacks Humanity is an improvised show based on the popular card game ‘Cards Against Humanity’. In the first section of the show, the audience use the cards to make 4 premises. These are then improvised by the cast. As the show progresses, the four scenarios are brought together, so that they overlap, influence and combine.
It’s an interesting concept that combines both long and short form improvisation, that requires a strong team and great pick-ups. The challenge is that if any of the four original concepts are not great, you are stuck with them for the whole performance.
On the night I attended, the cast were not firing especially well, with some long lags and occasional dead spots, although the audience were quite forgiving and appeared to have a good time, and the cast are likeable and enjoying themselves.
This is clever conceptually, clearly has a following and is probably usually much stronger - such is the nature of improvisation.
Worth trying for fans of ‘Cards Against Humanity’ and those who love the hit and miss of a completely improvised show.
