Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead starring Tim Minchin and Toby Schmitz
Sydney Theatre Company presents Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard at Sydney Theatre from 6 August to 7 September, 2013.
In Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, two of Shakespeare’s expendable supernumeraries are promoted to lead status by Tom Stoppard, as Hamlet’s epic plot unspools just off stage. Taking on the legendary pairing are Tim Minchin as Rosencrantz and Toby Schmitz as Guildenstern, alongside a cast of 13 directed by Simon Phillips.
Trapped in a world of existential despair but vaguely aware that they have only bit parts in a far greater story completely beyond their control, the childhood friends of Hamlet make their inevitable journey towards Shakespeare’s tragic conclusion for them.
