The Peach Season at Castle Hill

The Peach Season at Castle Hill

Heartwarming, life-affirming Australian play The Peach Season, by playwright Debra Oswald opens at Castle Hill’s Pavilion Theatre on September 27.

After losing her husband in tragic circumstances, Celia is determined to keep her sixteen year old daughter Zoe safe on the family peach farm. But in trying to protect Zoe, Celia only makes her long for freedom. Desperate to find pickers for her ripe fruit, against her better judgement Celia hires a pair of out of town drifters to help. But the young brother and sister are hiding a dark secret … which threatens to make all of Celia’s fears come true.

‘It’s a privilege to showcase quality Australian drama for an Australian audience,’ says director Bernard Teuben. ‘With searing honesty and compassion, The Peach Season deals with deeply personal questions about love and freedom and making the transition from adolescence to adulthood. I’ve no doubt audiences will be entertained and moved by this great story.’

The Peach Season opens at the Pavilion Theatre on September 27th and runs until October 19th 2013. Tickets are available from the box office on 9634 2929, online at www.paviliontheatre.org.au, or in person prior to each performance. Prices are $26.00 adult/$21.00 concession.
